Dr. Ghulam N. Mir, MD
Dr. Ghulam N. Mir graduated from the Government Medical College, in Srinagar, Kashmir, before coming to the United States in 1974. After his internship at Barberton Citizens Hospital, he completed his Internal Medicine residency and Gastroenterology fellowship at Wayne State University Hospitals in Detroit, Michigan. He then returned to Barberton to set up his gastroenterology practice in 1980.
Dr. Mir is board certified in Internal Medicine and Gastroenterology. He is a member of the American Gastroenterology Association, a Fellow of the American College of Gastroenterology, a member of the Summit County Medical Society, and an Assistant Clinical Professor of the Northeastern Ohio Medical School (NEOMED). Dr. Mir is also the President of Summit Gastroenterology Associates Inc.
Beside routine gastroenterological practice and procedures, Dr. Mir has a special interest in the use of advanced endoscopic procedures, including endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP), Spyglass cholangioscopy, endoscopic ultrasound, and double balloon enteroscopy in the management of diseases of the biliary tract, pancreas and small bowel.
Dr. Mir is on staff at all local hospitals, including Barberton, Western Reserve, Wadsworth, Akron City, and Akron General.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Mir is passionate about community service, interfaith harmony, charitable and humanitarian projects, and global human liberties.
